A topic that belong in chapter 1 of nursing informatics

From Chapter 1 of Nursing Informatics

On this chapter there are top four problems of local nurses in the work place: the excessive documentation, long turnaround times, inaccurate nursing processes and poor communication. First I will explain to you, why documentation is excessive, we know that there are a lot of patients in public hospitals, and usually in 1 nurse it would care an 8-12 patients in a shifts. And as nursing student, we know that there is a lot of documentation that we will do in just 1 patient, so how much more if you have 8-12 patients, and it will really cost a lot of time. The second problem was the turnaround time is too long. Because of the procedures or even the laboratory test can really cost a lot of time. That can add to the stress of the patients and to the cost of his hospital stay. Then the 3rd problem is the nursing processes are inaccurate. Nurses are not perfect! We are all human being that can't deny that sometimes we commit mistakes. Just like in clinical settings, for example, the nurse commits medical errors or labeling errors. Maybe the nurse will commit those mistakes if she/he has a lot of patients to care of. :) Then the last problem is the poor communication. Sometimes in the clinical setting, the physician can have a phone call to the nurse if its really important to have their conversation about the patients. But we can't really deny the difference between having a phone call and the presence of both communicators. Because in Phone call sometimes the communicators can't really understand, compare to the case that there are the presence of both communicators. Because having the presence of both communicators, both of them can really understand their conversation and it has also privacy to them. :)
